The New Autosafe Seat Belt Height Adjuster – As Seen on Dragon’s Den |
|
|
London, November 7, 2007: Does your child get irritated by their seat belt? Are you constantly asking them to sit correctly in their seat? Autosafe Products Ltd has launched its innovative Seat Belt Height Adjuster, designed to increase children’s safety and comfort when travelling by car.
The product was developed by Peter Sesay, a car safety expert and father of five, who recognised that child safety could be compromised by an incorrectly positioned shoulder strap of a seat belt. Autosafe received early fame by its appearance on the Dragon’s Den in 2006, when Peter Sesay secured private investment from both Duncan Valentine and Peter Jones, who greatly believed in the commercial and safety value of the product.
The Autosafe Seat Belt Height Adjuster is designed for use by children aged over four years old, who would typically sit in either a booster seat, or in the case of children taller than 135cm, would sit directly in the car. In most cases, a seat belt cuts across a child’s neck, making it uncomfortable, particularly on long journeys. The tendency is for children to tuck the shoulder belt under their arm, leaving the entire upper body unprotected and vulnerable to injury in the event of an accident.
Autosafe can be fitted to most cars that have fold-down seats. A strong and durable strap is threaded through the join of the seat and secured at the back via a cam buckle. The height of the seat belt clip can then be easily adjusted to the correct height of your child and allows the child to move normally, without compromising safety. Its compact size and versatility makes it the ideal solution for transferring from one car to another and for taking abroad.
All components have been chosen for their robustness and durability, and the Autosafe has been crash tested to European safety standard ECE R44/03 verified by the VCA. The product has also been proven to reduce injuries & significantly improve child safety with a level of testing never before achieved by any other height adjuster on the market.
In 2006, according to www.rospa.com 195 4-11 year olds were seriously injured in cars and 4,899 were slightly injured. A further survey conducted by the Transport Research Laboratory showed that a very significant 11% of 5-13 year olds were not restrained at all in the rear of a car.
The Autosafe Seat Belt Height Adjuster aims to reduce the number of injuries caused by inadequate restraint, improper use of a seat belt and inadequate positioning of a seat belt, while also making a car journey far more comfortable for children.
